HQ: Austin, TX NOW PLAYING: Cinematica (soundsunderradio.com) THE STORY SO FAR: That's not your spidey-sense tingling, it's your short-term memory. Does the name Sounds Under Radio seem familiar? If you own the soundtrack to a little art-house film called Spider-Man 3, you probably recognize the Austin four-piece as the only unsigned band to make the album (between Jet and Wasted Youth). It's been a dramatic ascent for the indie rockers since debuting at the 2004 South By Southwest Music Festival who, at press time, were the No. 1 unsigned band on the Daily Chorus website. WHY YOU SHOULD KNOW 'EM: Aside from their penchant for appearing on soundtracks (their music's also in WarGames 2), vocalist and guitarist Lang Freeman says it's the band's focus on the lost art of songwriting that distinguishes them from their peers.
