HQ: Cincinnati, OHNOW PLAYING: Art Is Easy (blacktiebombers.com) THE STORY SO FAR: Take three young punk fans from different backgrounds; add a chance meeting with a guitarist/fourth member at a local GameStop; skip over the un-glamorous stuff about sweating 24/7 in a practice space; and fast-forward to a studio in Detroit, where Black Tie Bombers recorded their debut with Royce Nunley (ex-Suicide Machines). That's pretty much it, except for the part about the passion that drives the quartet's classic, Fat Wreck Chords-style melodic-punk juggernaut. "We've worked really hard for the last two years, and wouldn't change it for anything," says bassist/vocalist Ryan Rockwell, "and we'll work just as hard for the next two years, and on and on..." WHY YOU SHOULD KNOW 'EM: It's not just Black Tie Bombers' music that'll start a refreshingly down-to-earth ringing in punk fans' ears; their attitude is just as refreshing-and funny. "We don't have a sense of fashion, and we're big nerds, but we love to play music more than anything, and we play a different kind of punk rock than anyone else does in this scene anymore, but it's familiar enough to make you sing along and dance," says Rockwell.
