HQ: St. Louis, MO NOW PLAYING: Things Are Getting Better 7-inch THE STORY SO FAR: After meeting three years ago, vocalist Brad Jokerst remembers a conversation over drinks with drummer Thad Martin (ex-This Incredible Machine). "I distinctly remember thinking, 'How fun would it be to start a band together'?," says Jokerst. "Just get drunk and play fun songs." A week later, the two set out to do just that with guitarist Dan Johanning. "We wanted to play songs completely devoid of what today's 'indie' and 'punk' have become." WHY YOU SHOULD KNOW 'EM: Aided by bassist Justin Haltmar (ex-Calico System), the Disappeared's sound is a blend of post-hardcore ethos and punk kinetics with metal underpinnings, separating them from scene trend-followers. "I haven't written a song about a girl in six years," says Jokerst. "We want to make you think, but at the same time, we want you to point a finger in the air, shake a fist and sing along."
