HQ: Burlington, Ontario, CanadaNOW PLAYING: Please, DiseaseEP THE STORY SO FAR:Coming together last August, these four Canadians share just two names--Ryan (Henderson plays guitar; Bruce plays drums) and Dave (Palmer plays bass; Partridge sings and plays guitar)--but seemingly a million forward-thinking musicial ideas. "[After forming], we locked ourselves away in a cottage in northern Ontario to prepare and polish a sound that would destroy lives," says Henderson confidently. And they've already turned the heads of scenemates Silverstein, whose singer, Shane Told, will release the band's Please, Disease EP on his label, Verona Records, this spring as a one-off. The quartet are still unsigned and looking for someone to release their debut full-length later this year, while also "touring as much as possible," Henderson states. WHY YOU SHOULD KNOW 'EM: Imagine if Comeback Kid went post-hardcore, or Modern Life Is War had more polished passages (or if Moneen just sounded evil), and you'd have an idea of how much the Stickup rule--and just how timeless their sound is. "Although we are well aware of current and passing trends, this knowledge in no way factors in to our persona or creative process," Henderson says. "Our songs are written to move, evoke and inspire... A song shouldn't have to have a disco beat to make you want to get up and dance." And while these gentlemen might look somewhat clean-cut right now, don't get used to it. As Henderson promises us, "We're not cutting our hair until the whole world moves with us." --Scott Heisel YOU LIKE?
