NOW PLAYING: The Rough Divide THE STORY SO FAR:Burn Me Down have little desire to be embraced by Bam Margera. Although they grew up musically indebted to Swedish metal meisters like In Flames and At The Gates, guitarist Andrew Riker believes that many of his heroes have "strayed from the metal path that they once paved" in favor of glossy, MTV-stamped visages. And that's one of the reasons he teamed up with drummer Ben Paulding and guitarist Craig Cashman in 2003, later to be joined by vocalist Josh Gavell and bassist Brian Curry-to reclaim melodic death metal. "BMD doesn't waste time trying to fit into girls pants and getting our hair all flippy. We're just five dudes that love writing, playing, and listening to metal." WHY YOU SHOULD KNOW 'EM:During the summer of 2005, the band recorded their debut disc with production by Beyond The Embrace guitarist Oscar Gouveia and last summer, the band prowled the stage at Brooklyn Metalfest, an OZZfest for underground metal in Brooklyn, NY. They've also played alongside Embrace, Diecast, Leukorrhea, End It All and Screams Of Erida, all in the name of cocksure, balls to the wall (any wall) thrashing. "Instead of trying to write heavy parts around catchy-sung choruses, we just do what we know best: Heavy guitar riffage, lots of harmonized shred and thunderous drums," says Riker. "We're just sticking to the guns the others ran out of ammo for." --Tim Karan YOU LIKE? YOU'LL LIKE: Children Of Bodom / Arch Enemy / Opeth Official Website: http://www.bmdmetal.com
