THE STORY SO FAR: Don't let the name fool you. Bring Back The Guns are much more invested in the return of quirk-centric, oddly time-signatured, Pixies post-pop than firearms. A Houston indie staple for a decade (check their illustrious Houston Press music awards resume), Matt Brownlie (vocals/guitar), Erik Bogle (guitar) and Thomas Clemmons (drums) began as local favorite, Groceries, before adding bassist Ryan Hull in 2003 and embracing their current, Reagan-esque moniker.
WHY YOU SHOULD KNOW 'EM: Right about now, we'd normally mention a few bands BBTG have opened for (and they would include the Dismemberment Plan and Shonen Knife), but, instead, let's note that Cursive and the Rapture have opened for them. "Sometimes you can dance to BBTG, sometimes you might just scratch your head, sometimes it's a big sing-along and sometimes we just scream at you," says Brownlie. "Sometimes all of that happens over the course of one song." -Tim Karan
