Chris Martignago of acoustic-pop duo Mélange had just parted ways with his old band, Voices, and moved to Orlando, Florida. He was doing solo acoustic performances at open-mic nights in the area when he met fellow bandmate Jonathan Levy, and Mélange were born. Martignago says that since he and Levy are both college students, they wanted something that they could just enjoy. “We're not looking to get famous,” he says. “We just want to connect with the people who will get something out of these songs.” The duo also do their part as far as charity goes, recently performing in front of an audience of 40,000 for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk and volunteering for organizations like Keep A Breast. This year, Martignago says he and Levy plan to attend South By Southwest—either as performers or volunteers.
