NOW PLAYING: Hung Up On Nothing EP (myspace.com/manoverboardnj)
THE STORY SO FAR: The weather may not be all that awesome, but growing up in New Jersey does have its perks. Pop-punk quartet Man Overboard came together last summer around a love for the music they were surrounded by. "Growing up in the wake of Saves The Day, the Early November and Thursday, we wanted to re-create the innocence we felt listening to those bands," says guitarist Wayne Wildrick. "There was an essence we fed off from those bands that we feel has been lost."
WHY YOU SHOULD KNOW 'EM: Man Overboard--who fall more into the Early November end of the Jersey spectrum--laid down their debut EP last August with Jesse Cannon (Valencia, Saves The Day) and went on the road with their friends in the Wonder Years and Transit. "We'll play anywhere for anyone willing to listen," says Wildrick. "We want to leave a positive impact for generations to look back on."
