THE STORY SO FAR: During the summer of 2007, Patryk McLaughlin (vocals/guitar) grew out of his post-hardcore band, Save It For Sunrise, and decided to travel down a more melodic path. Soon joined by fellow SIFS alumnus Marcy Lane (guitar), McLaughin's new project, Midnight Matinee, were on their way. Lineup changes ensued, but the band's veteran experience paved the way for a steady rise in the nearby Tallahassee, Florida, scene. "Our music has its fun and serious sides," says McLaughlin. "It appeals both to the clowns and the more in-depth listeners."
WHY YOU SHOULD KNOW 'EM: The melodic prowess of Midnight Matinee is surpassed only by their ambition. They recently used winnings from a battle of the band contest to do pre-production on a new track, and McLaughlin and bassist Ben Wentworth traveled to the Hamptons in New York to hustle CDs. "The right person might get their hands on it," says McLaughin. "You never know, right?"
