THE STORY SO FAR: If you've attended any shows in the greater Chicago area, there's a solid chance you've seen Prettyoungraves--you just didn't know it. The experimental metal group released their first EP, A White Nightmare, in 2007 as the Summer Fight. Although their fanbase was growing regionally, the band changed their name to match their evolving and increasingly ambitious sound. "We're an aggressive, demanding, melody-driven blend of indie rock and post-hardcore," says bassist Frank Rosado.
WHY YOU SHOULD KNOW 'EM: It really doesn't matter which sect of scene music you've immersed yourself in--you'll find something in Prettyoungraves that speaks to you. "We're unique enough that we fit on heavy-metal shows, straight-up hardcore shows and any other bill," says Rosado. "We recognize the expendability of bands nowadays, and we won't compromise to conform."
