THE STORY SO FAR: This band's name isn't a suggestion. Shut Up And Dance formed last fall in the shadow of Epcot Center, and within months they'd built buzz around their insanely catchy dance-pop. Featuring both guy and gal lead vocalists, SUAD wasted little time recording their self-titled EP with producer Daryl Phenneger (Evergreen Terrace, Inspection 12) and touring the Southeast. "We were also able to perform at some awesome events," says vocalist Shauna Stallings. "We played the Red Gorilla Music Festival in Austin, Texas, and a main stage at this year's Florida Music Festival [in Orlando]."
WHY YOU SHOULD KNOW 'EM: If your friends are giving you too much crap about your weakness for Pink, Shut Up And Dance are your legit alternative. "Our songs range from dance tunes to rock ballads and everything in between," says Stallings. And while there's a definite glossy veneer to SUAD, there's also an underlying edge, which you'll be able to witness for yourself when the band embark on the national tour they plan to go on once they release their upcoming full-length.
