Position: West Coast Editor
HQ: Southern California
Ryan J. Downey's first 300 words for Alternative Press appeared in AP 117, which featured Scott Weiland on the cover. In the years that followed, AP's West Coast Editor put together in-depth cover stories of his own, including Falling In Reverse, Pierce The Veil, Sleeping With Sirens, Motionless In White, Black Veil Brides, A Day To Remember, Fall Out Boy, Asking Alexandria, Green Day, The Devil Wears Prada, Coheed & Cambria, AFI, and Dashboard Confessional.
In addition to his duties as a contributing editor, Downey works as correspondent, producer and reporter for APTV and AltPress.com. He also hosts the MI Conversation Series in Hollywood.
Downey has worked as correspondent, producer and writer for Billboard, IFC, MSNBC and MTV News. He's the manager for AP-friendly producers: Zeuss (Rob Zombie, Hatebreed, Whitechapel, Throwdown), Ross Robinson (Slipknot, Korn, Glassjaw, At The Drive-In), Steve Evetts (The Wonder Years, Saves The Day, Suicide Silence, Every Time I Die), and a handful of bands.
In the formative years of modern metalcore, Downey fronted Burn It Down, whose solitary full-length album was awarded KKKK in Kerrang! and 4/5 in AP's very own pages.
