Ryan J. Downey's first assignment for AP was a 300 word piece on Coalesce. Scott Weiland was on the cover. Since then, Downey has contributed in-depth cover stories on Green Day, Pierce The Veil, Sleeping With Sirens, Falling In Reverse, The Devil Wears Prada, Coheed & Cambria, AFI, Dashboard Confessional (twice), and the complete Oral History of Vans Warped Tour, in addition to features on a number of bands ranging from Hatebreed to Fall Out Boy to Killswitch Engage to HIM. Downey's former band, Burn It Down, received a 4/5 review in AP's pages with their solitary full-length album, Let the Dead Bury the Dead.
He has worked as producer, writer, reporter and host for MTV News, MSNBC, E! and MovieWeb and provided opinion and commentary for VH1, IFC, Fuse and Current. His writing has appeared in Billboard, Huffington Post, SFGate.com, Premiere, OC Weekly and other publications. He's also the manager for AP-friendly bands like Tiger Army, Demon Hunter and The Dillinger Escape Plan, among others. Downey lives and works in Southern California. He counts his main priorities as family, friends, films and faith (plus, he loves alliteration). Downey's favorite bands of all time include, but are not limited to: Metallica, Adam & The Ants, a-ha, Depeche Mode, Billy Idol, The Smiths, Morrissey, Into Another, Chamberlain, Oasis and Zao.
