Web Exclusive: Meg & Dia Tour Diary (part one)
Steven Robertshaw on 2/11/08 @ 3:23 PMWe drove up to the venue not really sure of what to expect. We saw the two buses and a production truck. I could feel my heart race. We found a cozy parking space and I jumped out of the van. "First day!" I thought to myself. Not even 10 minutes after we arrived, Tom DeLonge walked up to me and Carlo and introduced himself. He was so kind and easy to talk to, I had forgotten all my early anxieties. He asked how our drive had been and how we felt about the tour. I told him how excited we all were to start on this journey and how thankful we were. After that first conversation, we all felt we could talk to the entire band about anything and everything.
All of Angels & Airwaves are so supportive. They don't hide away on their bus all day. They come out and chat before shows and show eagerness towards all of the other bands' endeavors. In a way, it's sort of like we have a bunch of older brothers looking after us. For example, one night we were having a meeting with our manager and we were discussing the next record. Tom appeared in the doorway, asked us what we were talking about, and continued to offer some grateful advice. We listened with open ears and thankful hearts. It's been an enchanting experience, sharing a stage with them and I can't wait to see what happens as the rest of the tour unfolds!
