UPDATE: Lostprophets frontman charged with sex offenses against children, to remain in custody

According to the latest report from BBC News, Watkins appeared in Cardiff court via video from Parc Prison in Bridgend, South Wales yesterday (December 31.) He and the two women charged in conjunction with him have been further remanded in custody and will face another hearing on March 11.

Fearless Records have released the following statement regarding Watkins' situation:

"Fearless Records is saddened by the news of the recent allegations against Lostprophets singer Ian Watkins. At this stage, the situation is in the hands of legal advisors and we trust them to do their due diligence in this matter. We have no further information on developments at this time."

Lostprophets have posted the following statement on their official website, which has gone blank save for the words that follow on a grey background:

"Following charges made today against Ian Watkins, we find ourselves in a state of shock. We are learning about the details of the investigation along with you. It is a difficult time for us and our families, and we want to thank our fans for their support as we seek answers.

Lostprophets
frontman Ian Watkins [pictured third from right] has been charged with sex offenses against children, according to BBC News. BBC reports that Watkins, has been "charged with conspiracy to engage in sexual activity with a female under 13 and possession [and] distribution of indecent images of children." According to the story on the BBC Wales website, the charges include "conspiracy to rape a one-year-old girl." The Miami Herald reports that in addition to "indecent images of children," Watkins was also found in possession of "extreme animal pornography."

Two women, aged 20 and 24, have been charged in connection with Watkins. 

A Fearless Records representative had no further information at press time, although an official statement is expected shortly.
