What We Are Looking For:
Alternative Press is seeking a smart, self-motivated and resourceful individual to join our team as a full-time editor for the Altpress website. The editor will be in charge of developing site growth strategies, identifying content opportunities to increase site traffic and managing freelance contributors and budgets. This position requires managing the brand’s day-to-day editorial operations across its digital platform at . The ideal candidate should have experience in online website management and development of interesting content that would appeal to our demographic. They should possess a killer news sense on a wide range of topics and be able to undertake time-crunching research using a variety of sources for breaking stories. As is one of the world’s most respected music and youth culture websites, the candidate should be able to energize and manage a growing editorial team. The job requires a commitment to the best journalistic practices, impeccable judgment under fire and strong management, budgeting, deadline and coordination skills. 

Job Duties:
-- Developing and planning editorial schedules for our website and collaborating with other editors, production, sales/marketing and social media teams.
-- Managing the site’s content posts, blogs, polls, new projects and event announcements, e-newsletter content and any site surveys or microsites. 
-- Maintaining current and thorough content budgets, auditing invoice submissions, compiling freelance 1099s and negotiating all editorial fees with contributors.
-- Modify content so that it is eye-catching and easy to view on a variety of platforms, including social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr, Snapchat, Vine and Pinterest)
-- Manage a global team of freelance contributors, encouraging them to develop traffic-building news and feature content that encompasses a wide variety of music and pop culture categories.
-- Seek out new freelance contributors, negotiate rates and procure signed freelance agreements. Evaluate works submitted and adapt the freelance pool as necessary.
-- Monitor, review and analyze live website visitor statistics, creating or modifying active online content to assure it is reaching the largest possible audience. 
-- Create and coordinate editorial coordinate with the Social Media and Marketing teams for a variety of social media platforms.
-- Coordinate with Marketing and Advertising specific creative content (both native and promotional) that is needed.-Monitor online comments for offensive posts and assuring a safe, bully-free arena for Altpress fans to come together to discuss and debate.
-- Manage any website editorial interns with specific day-to-day assignments and attached goals.

Job Qualifications:
-- 2 years minimum of website editorial management experience 
-- Professional management and team-building skills
-- Skilled with budgeting, negotiating and contracts
-- Deadline-focused
-- A problem-solver 
-- Comprehensive understanding of youth/popular culture (music/film/TV/books/tech)
-- Proficiency in Macintosh, as well as Microsoft Word and Excel programs
-- Possess a thorough understanding of basic HTML and Word Press
-- Understand the use of keywords, hyperlinks, navigation, and have a thorough understanding of the standard practices of SEO
-- Have a thorough understanding of Google Analytics including best practices, report creation and analysis- and the ability to create content strategies from them
-- Experience in video shooting/editing and Gif-creation 
-- Strong social media skills across all platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr, Snapchat, Vine and Pinterest
-- Meticulously organized, detail-oriented and preferring a clean work area
-- Excellent verbal and written communication skills a must
-- Most importantly, a positive, self-starting attitude
-- BA in English, Journalism or related field helpful

What We Are Looking For:

Alternative Press Media is looking for a confident, self-motivated individual to join our staff in Cleveland as a National Advertising & Sponsorship Sales Representative. This candidate should have an in-depth knowledge of contemporary young adult culture, including the areas of music, movies & television, online, style and technology trends.

The successful candidate will have a background in media sales with a strength in digital sales. This position will oversee existing national business in addition to establishing relationships with new marketing and advertising partners for our online/digital initiatives, print publications and events/tours.


Develop and execute cross-platform marketing/advertising campaigns for clients; from content creative to implementation.
Creating custom proposals, prepare presentations and managing the overall packages that are delivered to clients.
Identifying sales opportunities and approaching potential new clients.
Work closely with the Marketing team to develop and sell creative advertising and sponsorship opportunities.
Researching and staying current with new and emerging technologies, including online/interactive properties that could be essential to implementing exciting new advertising properties for clients.

Job Qualifications:
