ALTPRESS.COM FEATURES/NEWS EDITOR
WHO THIS IS
This applicant is tuned in with the technology-in-hand-born, media-consuming youth of the 21st Century. When rumors break, applicants will know exactly where to go, who to talk to and how to get the information they need to change that rumor into a confirmed story, not settling for copy-and-paste news reporting or link-culture. Candidate will see stories beyond sanctioned press announcements, actively competing with other media outlets to be the first to break stories and do it right. Applicant understands building strong, trustful relationships with industry and artists alike is a must-have skill, not to be abused for sensationalist journalism or personal gain. Applicant must have editing skills which parallel strong writing skills, as well as being a self-starter who can build, maintain and motivate a strong network of freelance news gatherers to be put to use immediately when a story breaks. They should be fluent in digital tablets and able to update a news story into a CSS system from their smart phone while attending a show. Regardless of technological advances, some things in the news business never change—which is why the ideal candidate for this position will be an old-school “news hound” who lives for breaking stories and maintaining journalistic integrity.
