NOW PLAYING: Power Weapons In The Complex (RUST; rustrecords.com) THE STORY SO FAR: Fresh out of high school-and bummed at the idea that their friends' bands were dropping like flies-the five members of Between Home And Serenity decided it was now or never for their own musical outlet-and, literally almost overnight, the band's persistence and relentless self-promotion (to say nothing of their musical energy) led to a sold-out self-released debut, 300,000-plus plays on Purevolume.com, and the No. 3 spot on Smartpunk.com for five straight weeks. Did we mention this was all before their new, major-label-distributed second CD hit stores? WHY YOU SHOULD KNOW 'EM: "People need to know about us because we worked from the bottom up to become what we are today," says bassist Mike Mealey. This summer, Warped Tour crowds will catch the band's infectious, dynamic post-screamo during a string of dates on the Smartpunk Stage, after which BHAS will hit the road on their own for an extended national trek.
