HQ: Ocala, FL NOW PLAYING: For Those Who Have Heart (VICTORY; victoryrecords.com) THE STORY SO FAR: Like so many young bands just trying to be heard, A Day To Remember worked diligently to be embraced by the masses for over three years. According to bassist Josh Woodard, the band's first release And Their Name Was Treason "wasn't a substantial release," but it had enough buzz to get the band on the road. ADTR got the surprise of a lifetime when offered a deal by Victory Records. It all started through some online conversations between Woodard and a Victory Records art department employee. Shortly after the band played a show in Lemont, Illinois, they got a call from Victory to play a showcase. WHY YOU SHOULD KNOW 'EM: With influences that range from Blink-182 to Underoath, A Day to Remember have a lust for pop hooks and balls-out hardcore. Woodard explains that being on Victory, a label that helped jumpstart the career of one of his favorite bands, Taking Back Sunday, ADTR are heading in the right direction. The band is so zealous about what's on the horizon that their 16- year-old drummer Alex Shelnutt is completing high school online. "We want to have the time of our lives. We definitely want kids to like it and [hope] to blow up," says Woodard. "Mark our words, we're taking over the world." -Adam K. Zakroczymski III YOU LIKE?
