NOW PLAYING: How Far Our Bodies Will Go (SABOT PRODUCTIONS)

THE STORY SO FAR: With roots in Naples, Florida-just a sweaty road trip away from the punk capital of Gainesville-Fake Problems originally began as a solo project for frontman Chris Farren. After swelling to a full lineup, the folk-inspired punk outfit began opening for likeminded statesmen Against Me! where, on one occasion, they met the head of their to-be label-Sabot Productions. A 7-inch and a full-length later, they're still hanging with the boys of Against Me!, currently opening their full North American tour. "It's going to be the most awesome thing ever," says Farren. "It's a big adrenaline rush to be able to play in front of all those of people."

WHY YOU SHOULD KNOW 'EM: How Far Our Bodies Will Go delivers a warm, Southern feel with catchy hooks and crisp, clear vocals. Unafraid of genre boundaries, the band also incorporate a slew of unconventional instruments. "We used mandolin, glockenspiel, synth, violin, a small horn section and accordion [on the album]," says Farren. "We maxed the mixing board!" And lyrically, Farren is advanced-contrasting living with dying and staying with leaving. "It wasn't initially planned to be a concept album, but it came out that way," he says. But despite the somber subject matter, Fake Problems are focused on having fun. "[When we play live,] we do whatever it takes to make each other laugh," Farren says. "If I do something and look over and Casey is laughing, then I know we're doing something right." -Kira Wisniewski
