After weeks of no venue announcement for the DC date of
Blink-182's upcoming
tour, a decision has been made--and one that is likely to thrill thousands of fans at that. The organizers of the 2009
Virgin Mobile Festival have announced that Blink-182, along with Weezer, Girl Talk, Taking Back Sunday, The Hold Steady and more, will be playing at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland on August 30--absolutely free of charge. Because of this, the event will be branded as the Virgin Mobile Freefest. 35,000 tickets will be given away, with first priority given to Virgin Mobile customers and previous ticket-buyers to Virgin Mobile Festivals.
