News has surfaced that Sweet Cobra guitarist Matthew Allen Arluck passed away yesterday, Nov. 26. Arluck had spent the past few years battling cancer of an unknown origin. He was 39. Arluck's record label, Seventh Rule Recordings, tweeted the following: "Our hearts are broken. We lost a member of the Seventh Rule family today. RIP Mat Arluck. You will be missed more than you'll ever know."

Arluck, a Chicago punk/metal scene fixture, also played bass in Stabbed By Words, as well as guitar in Deminer. He was also a guitarist in long-running pop-punk band Horace Pinker for a period early this decade, recording on their 2000 album Pop Culture Failure and EP Copper Regret (the latter of which featured ex-Jawbreaker bassist Chris Bauermeister).

Our deepest condolences go out to the family, friends and fans of Mr. Arluck.

I actually saw Deminer in 2000 when they played to 3 people in Lubbock TX. I remember Mat being completely chill about the whole thing, in a good way. I really really love his guitar work on the two Horace Pinker releases he played on, especially "Second Best" & "South Stanley Place". R.I.P.
