DEBUNKED: THE MATCHES ARE NOT RECORDING A NEW ALBUMPosted by Scott Heisel on 11-Apr-08 @ 01:19 PM
Oh, to not factcheck: A music news website made a post yesterday claiming that Shawn Harris of the Matches told people his band would be heading back into the studio this May to record the follow-up to their brand new album, A Band In Hope. Since the band are currently on the AP Tour (y'know, the real AP), we thought we'd ask the band ourselves just what was going on. Managing editor Rachel Lux reports from the Matches' tour bus:
Ok, so I talked to the dudes tonight after the show. Apparently, the "news" post on [the gossip website] is all bullshit. I guess some kid came up to [Shawn] at the show in DC and asked him what tour they were doing next. Shawn said he didn't know and that they were going to go home and record some stuff and then hopefully [do a headlining tour].So there you have it: The Matches, no matter what you read anywhere else, are not recording a new album this year. As soon as they do decide to head back into the studio, you better believe we'll be the first to know about it. [ |

The couple posted a joint statement last night on Wentz's social-networking website, FriendsOrEnemies.com, which reads:

Yes, we are thrilled to share that we are happily engaged. Thank you for all of your support and well wishes - it means the world to us. We consider this to be a very private matter, but we wanted you to hear it straight from us."Our congratulations go out to the happy couple. [ |

GREEN DAY CONFIRM THEY ARE, IN FACT, FOXBORO HOT TUBSPosted by Scott Heisel on 10-Apr-08 @ 01:33 PM
For months, people have speculated over the true identity of Foxboro Hot Tubs, with many saying it is yet another alter ego of Green Day (their first being masked synth-punk group the Network). Finally, the band have come clean and admitted to MTV that they are, in fact, the same band."We think that the only similarity [between the two bands] is that we are the same band. That is basically the only similarity," said the band in an e-mail statement. "We are Jason White, Jason Freese, Michael Pritchard [Mike Dirnt], Frank Edwin Wright the Third [Tre Cool] and the Reverend Strychnine Twitch [presumably Billie Joe Armstrong. We are four guys who love to play music and be spontaneous, [and] after a few late night jams and a few too many bottles of wine, we were inspired to record some rockin' eight-track recordings." The band have also said they plan on touring as Foxboro Hot Tubs in support of their soon-to-be-released debut album, Stop Drop And Roll!!!. ""All things considered, either the Network or Green Day would make excellent openers for a FBHT tour," they told MTV. "Anyone know how to book a tour?" [ |
