Guitar pioneer Les Paul passes away at 94

Les Paul, the man who singlehandedly changed the face of music with the invention of the solid-body electric guitar, has passed away, according to a spokesperson with Gibson Guitar. He was 94. MSNBC is reporting that Paul passed at White Plains Hospital in New York from complications of pneumonia.

The two-time Grammy winner not only invented the solid-body electric guitar in 1939 before designing the world-famous Gibson Les Paul in the early '50s (still mass-produced today and considered the standard in rock music worldwide), he also created a number of performance and recording techniques, including overdubbing, delay and multitrack recording. His most recent album was 2008's A Tribute To A Legend.

The Starting Line to release new DVD

Members of The Starting Line may be busy lately with their other bands, but that doesn't mean that they're shirking their TSL duties. They mentioned that they'd be releasing a DVD, and details of that release have finally come to light. The disc will be called Somebody's Gonna Miss Us and will hit stores on November 10. Paramore announce fall headlining trek

Paramore are set for a fall headlining run in support of their third full-length, brand new eyes, set to drop Sept. 29. Joining them on the road will be Fueled By Ramen labelmates the Swellers and Paper Route. Tickets go on pre-sale Aug. 17, with public sale on Aug. 21 and 22nd (check your local venue for times).
