FROM AUTUMN TO ASHES TO RELEASE LIVE ALBUM

Posted by Tim Karan on 29-Apr-08 @ 02:12 PM

Vagrant metalcore band From Autumn To Ashes have announced they will release Live At Looney Tunes on June 17. The band recorded the show at the Looney Tunes store in Long Island, New York.

Fans who attended the show can take their pre-order slips to the store at 31 Brookvale, Ave., West Babylon, New York, later this week to receive finished copies. Looney Tunes will sell the disc exclusively in stores and online beginning this week, before the wide release in June.

Frontman Fran Mark explains the Looney Tunes connection:
"Thirteen years ago, I went to Looney Tunes and found a selection of local independent music that I had been unfamiliar with until I saw it on their shelves. This opened up a new world to me. I was just getting into some of the nationally recognized hardcore bands of the time but I didn't realize there was such a scene in my own backyard. People would leave stacks of flyers by the front door and it became a way for me to find out about local shows. I think a good local music scene is made possible not only by the bands and a decent all-ages venue, but also by a solid indie music store. I'm happy to have done something to give back to a place that helped mold me into the person I am today."

Tracklist is as follow:
1. Pioneers
2. Milligram Smile
3. Cherry Kiss
4. Everything I Need
5. Deth Kult Social Club
6. ------------------------
7. Royal Crown vs. Blue Duchess
8. No Trivia
9. Recounts And Recollections
10. Alive Out Of Habit
11. The After Dinner Payback

CHUCK RAGAN, TIM BARRY & BEN NICHOLS PLAN TOUR

Posted by Tim Karan on 28-Apr-08 @ 03:43 PM

Chuck Ragan (ex-Hot Water Music), Tim Barry (Avail) and Ben Nichols (Lucero) will hit the road together this fall with the Revival Tour. Each show will feature individual sets from each artist, but will focus on a folk tradition by allowing multiple artist collaborations with guest performers during each set. The trio plan to learn each other's music over the summer at Barry's Richmond, Virginia, home.

Nichols had this to say:
"The three of us have been in bands that each have their own sound, but I think we're all coming from the same place musically concerning this tour. When it comes down to it, we all appreciate good songs and good songwriters and that's what this tour is all about-stripping everything down to its basic form and playing some good songs with some of your friends. The idea of Woody Guthrie, just a man and a guitar, is very appealing to all of us, and the chance to be a part of something like that with Chuck and Tim is something I couldn't pass up. We all have our own types of songs, but I think it'll be a blast basically sitting around a campfire every night playing music with some friends."

Barry said:
"I don't know what it's going to end up sounding like from night-to-night and that's the coolest thing about it. I don't think anyone is going to know what it's going to sound like until we get up there, but I can honestly say that I'm more excited about music now than I've been in a long time. There's only a few bands that I feel that kinship with as far as personalities beyond music; there's some people where you're like, 'this is my family on the road no matter what.' Hot Water Music and Lucero are two of the few bands I feel that way about. It's going to be a thrill to do this."

Routing has not been confirmed, but the tour is tentatively scheduled to take place from September through mid-November.
