FROM A SECOND STORY WINDOW BREAK UP

Posted by Ben Sailer on 02-Sep-08 @ 05:26 PM

From A Second Story Window have decided to break up, citing shifting trends in the heavy music landscape and a desire to move on to other endeavors as primary factors behind the split. A statement from the group reads:

The past several years for us as From A Second Story Window have been quite a roller coaster ride. We have watched trends come and go, looked on as people grew in and out of an ever undulating "scene", and had the chance to watch something we love, our music, grow into an expression we can all truly be proud of. However, the life in a band is much like those very roads we travel down on every tour; hills leading up, followed by valley's dipping downward towards vast, level planes where things begin to feel stagnant and a bit too calm. Then around every corner is a new fad or statement that you can either grow with or simply step aside and let it be what it is, knowing that you are no longer connected at all anymore. For us, with this changing musical market and its inhabitants, it is simply our time to step aside and let the flow continue on without us. It is time for us to venture down new avenues of creativity and to find new things to enrich our lives fully.

The rest of the band's parting statement can be read on their blog here.

The former Warren, Ohio metalcore act put out their final release, Conversations, earlier this year on Black Market Activities.

CUTE IS WHAT WE AIM FOR DRUMMER QUITS MID-TOUR

Posted by Scott Heisel on 02-Sep-08 @ 04:39 PM

Confirming rumors swirling around the band, Cute Is What We Aim For drummer Tom Falcone has announced that he has left the Buffalo, New York-based group. Falcone has released the following statement regarding his departure:
"To all our fans who have had questions about my leaving the band - First off, I want to thank you for supporting me during my time with the Cute, as well as now. I also want to thank you all for congratulating me on my decision, and your words of encouragement have meant the world to me. Let me put the rumors to rest for you - I simply left the band because the personality conflicts and daily drama made it impossible for me to live a peaceful, happy life. I made it clear to Shaant that I would be leaving and explained why. I assure you that no one came looking for me. Shaant, Dave, and Jeff know fully and without a doubt that they left me no choice. There should be no question whatsoever. I will miss touring, playing my drums daily and the incredibly wonderful people I met along the way.

Thank you all again, because without you, I would have never made it this long.

I am comfortable with my decsion and am confident that I did all that I could, working to the best of my ability. I am walking away with my self respect and my dignity in tact.

Good luck to Cute, I wish you nothing but the best."
This is not CIWWAF's first defection in their somewhat brief life as a band; bassist Fred Cimato left the group in October 2006, only to be replaced by Jack Marin, who also quit mid-tour in April 2007 only to be replaced by Cimato. Cimato again quit the band earlier this year, with David Melillo stepping in for him. As of press time, the band are continuing on their Canadian tour with Simple Plan and Metro Station with a fill-in drummer (dates below); no permanent replacement has been revealed yet:
