FROM AUTUMN TO ASHES TO RELEASE LIVE ALBUMPosted by Tim Karan on 29-Apr-08 @ 02:12 PM
Vagrant metalcore band From Autumn To Ashes have announced they will release Live At Looney Tunes on June 17. The band recorded the show at the Looney Tunes store in Long Island, New York.Fans who attended the show can take their pre-order slips to the store at 31 Brookvale, Ave., West Babylon, New York, later this week to receive finished copies. Looney Tunes will sell the disc exclusively in stores and online beginning this week, before the wide release in June. Frontman Fran Mark explains the Looney Tunes connection: "Thirteen years ago, I went to Looney Tunes and found a selection of local independent music that I had been unfamiliar with until I saw it on their shelves. This opened up a new world to me. I was just getting into some of the nationally recognized hardcore bands of the time but I didn't realize there was such a scene in my own backyard. People would leave stacks of flyers by the front door and it became a way for me to find out about local shows. I think a good local music scene is made possible not only by the bands and a decent all-ages venue, but also by a solid indie music store. I'm happy to have done something to give back to a place that helped mold me into the person I am today." Tracklist is as follow: 1. Pioneers 2. Milligram Smile 3. Cherry Kiss 4. Everything I Need 5. Deth Kult Social Club 6. ------------------------ 7. Royal Crown vs. Blue Duchess 8. No Trivia 9. Recounts And Recollections 10. Alive Out Of Habit 11. The After Dinner Payback [ |

CHUCK RAGAN, TIM BARRY & BEN NICHOLS PLAN TOURPosted by Tim Karan on 28-Apr-08 @ 03:43 PM
Chuck Ragan (ex-Hot Water Music), Tim Barry (Avail) and Ben Nichols (Lucero) will hit the road together this fall with the Revival Tour. Each show will feature individual sets from each artist, but will focus on a folk tradition by allowing multiple artist collaborations with guest performers during each set. The trio plan to learn each other's music over the summer at Barry's Richmond, Virginia, home.Nichols had this to say: "The three of us have been in bands that each have their own sound, but I think we're all coming from the same place musically concerning this tour. When it comes down to it, we all appreciate good songs and good songwriters and that's what this tour is all about-stripping everything down to its basic form and playing some good songs with some of your friends. The idea of Woody Guthrie, just a man and a guitar, is very appealing to all of us, and the chance to be a part of something like that with Chuck and Tim is something I couldn't pass up. We all have our own types of songs, but I think it'll be a blast basically sitting around a campfire every night playing music with some friends." Barry said: "I don't know what it's going to end up sounding like from night-to-night and that's the coolest thing about it. I don't think anyone is going to know what it's going to sound like until we get up there, but I can honestly say that I'm more excited about music now than I've been in a long time. There's only a few bands that I feel that kinship with as far as personalities beyond music; there's some people where you're like, 'this is my family on the road no matter what.' Hot Water Music and Lucero are two of the few bands I feel that way about. It's going to be a thrill to do this." Routing has not been confirmed, but the tour is tentatively scheduled to take place from September through mid-November. [ |

SO THEY SAY BREAK UP, MEMBERS FORM THE AUDIOPosted by Ben Sailer on 28-Apr-08 @ 01:05 PM
St. Louis, Missouri alt/emo rockers So They Say are throwing in the towel following the departure of members Justin Hanson and Nick Walters. Remaining members David Shroeder and Joseph Hamilton have already gone on to form a new pop-rock outfit called The Audio. The band issued the following statement: Yes, its the most fucked up thing in the world of music. Your favorite band broke up and changed their style. But, that's what happened, and honestly we could never be happier. Joe and I really had the times of our lives with STS, but when nick and justin parted ways, we weren't just going to give up. We decided to start over. Not in spite or anger of the breakup of STS, but in the need to PLAY MUSIC. But to call this new band sotheysay would have been a LIE. Nick and Justin mean the world to us and we thought it would have been completely disrespectful to go on as STS without them. Not to mention, we have over 20 totally new songs (that range from the pop-punkiness of "Come on Baby" to the throw back 80's hair-metal of the unreleased "Shake, Shake, Shake"). Honestly, we are sacrificing and risking everything to try to make music that is something we have never done before. Now, we know a lot of our real fans are upset with the change, but it was something that we wanted to do and are super-stoked about. So please, hold STS close to your hearts, but understand, STS is now in our past. It was great while it lasted and we can all agree we put out some killer fucking tunes over the span of 3 cds, but OUR HEARTS are now with The Audio and nothing else. It means so much that you all stuck with us for so long. But the trips not over my friends! In fact, its just beginning. In the very near future, The Audio will be recording either a new EP or full length and hope to hit the road with a live show that was bred to be on the big arena stage! We want to put something back into music that has been missing for a long time: good ol' fashioned, party til you drop, FUN! That's all. FUN! Something a lot of people are missing in their lives right now. So do us a favor, rock your STS shirts with pride, but don't be afraid of change. We're all in this together, to the end! Much love and respect, David sotheysay/The Audio So They Say last released Life In Surveillance in late 2007 on Fearless Records. Source: Decoymusic.com [ |
