My Chemical Romance post new single, cancel shows

Alternative Press - Scott Heisel on 9/2/06 @ 5:51 PM - altpress.com

New Jersey goth-punks My Chemical Romance have posted online "Welcome To The Black Parade," the first single off their upcoming third album, The Black Parade, out Oct. 24 via Reprise Records (details). The band debuted the song live earlier this week on the VMAs pre-show. You can stream it at their MySpace page.

In sadder news, the band have been forced to drop off this weekend's performances in Allentown, PA (9/2) and Syracuse, NY (9/3) due to the hospitalization of MCR drummer Bob Bryar. Bryar was admitted to the hospital late Thursday night because of complications resulting from injuries sustained last month while the band was shooting a video in Los Angeles. He is expected to remain there through the weekend.

The shows will go on as planned with Taking Back Sunday and Circa Survive, and My Chemical Romance would like to encourage their fans to go see both bands. "One of the major disappointments of this, other than seeing Bob in pain, is missing Taking Back Sunday and Circa Survive," says singer Gerard Way. "Both of those bands are incredible and we hope they have an amazing show."

"We intend to make this up as soon as we possibly can in a completely fun and creative way for the fans to not be out in the cold," said band manager Brian Schechter. The band and I feel that they should stick by their bandmate and brother's side in this time and not go play a show with a different drummer. Please bear with us as we sort out firstly Bob's health and secondly the re-scheduling of these shows."

Plus 44 post new song

Alternative Press - Scott Heisel on 9/1/06 @ 11:57 PM - altpress.com

Plus 44, the new band consisting of Blink-182 bassist/vocalist Mark Hoppus and drummer Travis Barker, as well as guitarist Craig Fairbaugh (ex-Lars Frederickson And The Bastards/Transplants/The Forgotten) as well as guitarist Shane Gallagher of the Nervous Return, have posted the first audio from their upcoming debut album, When Your Heart Stops Beating, out Nov. 21 on Interscope (details). The song is titled "Lycanthrope" and can be streamed at the band's website (or if you're sneaky, you can download the MP3 here).

There is no word if this will be the album's first single; the only other audio to come out thus far was a demo version of "No It Isn't," which surfaced last December. The band's first show is slated for this October as a part of the Bamboozle Left (details).
