X vocalist Exene Cervenka diagnosed with MS

Tim Karan on 6/2/09 @ 12:39 PM

Exene Cervenka, vocalist for Los Angeles punk band X, revealed that she recently became aware that she has been suffering from Multiple Sclerosis for "quite some time." Cervenka has been a strong supporter of the Sweet Relief charity which was initiated to provide support to uninsured musicians after singer/songwriter Victoria Williams was diagnosed with MS in 1992.

Cervenka made this statement:
"After some months of not feeling 100% healthy, I recently had some medical tests run and the prognosis is that I am suffering from Multiple Sclerosis. Apparently, it has been affecting me for quite some time.

While this diagnosis will most certainly mean some changes for me, personally, it will not affect my commitments to the current X U.S. tour, nor will it affect my solo album that is slated for release this fall on Bloodshot Records.

My focus will certainly be on maintaining my health--many people remain strong and continue to live their lives as productively as they had before an MS diagnosis and I plan to be one of those people."

The Cab replace guitarist Ian Crawford

The Cab have made what sounds like an amicable split with guitarist Ian Crawford. "The direction we as a band weren't what his intentions were to move forward musically," said bassist Cash Colligan in his blog. "He's a great guy who taught me alot about music and helped me push myself at times even when I was like... 'ok dude whatever kiss my ass I'm not doing that.' But, you can't put up a red light at a car heading a different direction... so we didn't. We wish him the best of luck with his future in music."

The Cab will continue their "What Happens in Vegas Tour" with their friend, Bryan Dawson, replacing Crawford.
