Sufjan Stevens announces fall tour dates Acclaimed singer-songwriter Sufjan Stevens has announced he will once again hit the road, with a tour scheduled for this September and October -- however, don't expect to hear any material from The Avalanche: Outtakes and Extras from the Illinois Album, his upcoming B-sides album, out July 25.

According to a press release, Stevens "will perform a repertoire of familiar songs from Seven Swans, Michigan and Illinois in a new symphonic context. This tour is not a promotional tour for The Avalanche... but instead a chance for Stevens to showcase his compositions in a more formal atmosphere."

The majority of the venues will be sit-down theatres, with performances featuring a small string ensemble (ranging from four to eight members in different cities) and brass section; Stevens plans to perform five to six new songs at each show, as well.
