After prolonged drama surrounding the removal of Austin Carlile, frontman and founder of Of Mice & Men, Carlile has taken to his Twitter to tell his version of the story.
Yesterday, Carlile tweeted, "Attn: I QUIT OF MICE & MEN (full statement posted in the next couple of days) I still love you all <3"
Carlile was the vocalist for Attack Attack! until announcing his departure and subsequent formation of Of Mice & Men in November 2008. Rumors of turmoil within the band and Carlile's heart condition (which led to his being unable to join the band on their recent tour with Alesana and A Skylit Drive) led to conflicting views on whether it was Carlile who decided to leave OM&M or if he was kicked out.
A scathing account surfaced when one of the girlfriends of another member of OM&M posted sentiments like, "Nobody trusts him, nobody likes him, no one is willing to deal with his egotistical, maniacal self centeredness and narcissism." Carlile's former band Attack Attack! also posted a blog on MySpace depicting Carlile in a less than flattering light that has subsequently been taken down. They replaced it with a new blog explaining,"We didn't want to drag down Of Mice and Men with Austin. We absolutely love all of the rest of those guys, and we wouldn't ever want them to be affected more by him."
Carlile returned to his Twitter saying, "No hate, on any band, on any person. Be respectful. I'll have a full statement soon."
What do you think about all this?
