Bloc Party to reunite and begin work on new album
April 7, 2011 by Tim Karan
Bloc Party have announced that they're returning from their two-year hiatus in September when they start work on their fourth full-length. They have no plans to play any shows this year. Guitarist Russell Lissack said in a recent interview: "Kele [Okereke, vocals] and I started working on Bloc Party stuff. We're having a bit of a break until the festivals are over, because people have commitments during the summer, but we're going to get back properly in September and sit in a rehearsal studio to work on new band material." Lissack says he already has seven or eight songs written for the album.
Since the band announced their hiatus in 2009, three of the four members pursued different projects. Okereke released a solo album called The Boxer last year, Lissack has been playing with Ash and bassist Gordon Moakes focused on Young Legionnaire.
