Fun. to play the White House on Fourth of July, will stream live; hint at new album plans

Fun. are scheduled to play the White House on the Fourth of July, as the performers for the Fifth Annual “Salute to the Military” USO Concert Event.

The performance will be available to stream live on the White House's website. According to the press release, the celebration will include a barbecue, family-friendly games, a musical selection by “The President’s Own” U.S. Marine Band and a free 60-minute USO show by Grammy Award winning indie pop band Fun. More than 1,200 troops and their families are expected to attend.

Frontman Nate Ruess on why he's excited to play the White House this year:

"Independence Day is a tremendous honor for us. We can’t thank our nation’s men and women in uniform enough for what they do for us every day and we’re thrilled to have the privilege of performing for them on this special night.”

The band are scheduled to start their "Most Nights" North American tour, Fun.'s biggest yet, starting July 6 in Toronto and running through Oct., when the tour ends in Mexico City, along with performing a handful of summer festivals throughout North America, Europe, and Asia. You can check out the tour dates below.

We've also heard via Billboard that Fun. might be returning to the studio at the beginning of next year. Guitarist Jack Antonoff told Billboard the band doesn't have a set "game plan" yet, but there have been hints toward returning to the studio:

"The way we work is pretty spontaneous and pretty quick. 'Some Nights' was written and recorded in a two-month time period, and I think that's one of the elements that made it successful as an album. It should be a documentation of a band in a moment, not a giant, three-year process. The next album will be the same thing. I assume some time at the beginning of next year we'd like to be in the studio, but that all depends on when the feeling hits and when we have a concept that's worthy."
