Hopeless Records/Sub City raises 2 million dollars for charity
August 30, 2011 by Tyler Common
Hopeless Records and Sub City have announced they have reached the amazing milestone of donating 2 million dollars to well over 50 charities.
How have they done this, you may wonder? They have in numerous ways: For instance, 10% of the ticket price of the annual Take Action tour is given to charity.
In a press release, Hopeless Records President & Sub City Executive Director Louis Posen stated:
"Breaking $2 million donated to charity is a reminder to me of how powerful music, music fans, musicians and the music community can be in making a positive impact in the world. A huge thank you to all of you who have played a part in reaching this milestone. We are eager and passionate in working with you to make an even bigger difference from this day forward."
Artists such as Thrice, Avenged Sevenfold, All Time Low, Paramore, Jimmy Eat World and August Burns Red have participated in Sub City projects in the past.
For those unfamiliar with the label's artists, Amazon MP3 is hosting a free summer sampler featuring tracks from the label's current roster. Furthermore, on Thursday, September 1, in Los Angeles, Sub City will be honoring people who have helped them reach this milestone--a lineup which includes AP's own Mike Shea.
