Ohio's Mixtapes have launched their take on the "song shop" idea.

Read a statement from the band about how to get a personalized song for only ten bucks.

The picture above you is my (Ryans) room. It's where I write the songs I write for Mixtapes and record demos and such things with my lovely band mates. This idea started as a joke not even making fun of anything just because of the idea of it. Max Bemis of Say Anything has a song shop where you can buy a song from him and he will give you a phone call. I think that's cool although some people think it's not, but honestly it's better than a kick starter or anything. He's not asking for anything and there's no obligation, and if Craig Finn from the hold steady would write me a song I'm just saying I'd give him $150 easily. But I digress, so I jokingly said on our facebook page that for $10 I would write you a song about whatever you wanted and I would have one of my friends call you. People seemed into it and I think it would be extremely fun and hilarious. We are not touring for the winter in the midst of making our first real full length and I figure this could produce some ridiculous results so yeah. So if you would like a song e mail astupidsongforyou@yahoo.com and we will go from there, I want to know about you and what the idea is, or if you already have it basically written that's fine. Please understand that I'm recording these in my bedroom, hence the picture above, I will work hard on it and make it good but i am recording this in my room so just know that! Also I'm kind of weird so specify if you want a genre of the song, it will be mostly acoustic, you might get some electronic drums, and you might even get a song by Grath Madden of house boat, Mikey Erg, or my neighbor, which honestly would be awesome for you. And of course other random friends and musicians will take part and of course Maura will be contributing just as much when she gets back from India (who goes to India?)
We've gotten to meet the best people through this band in the past year and this will be fun and a way to know even more about things I probably don't want to know about anyways! And if you are wondering about the money it will go to three things.
1. Fast Food
2. Drugs
3. Helping some personal family medical bills
All good causes I assume unless you are a vegan then just pretend number 1 isn't there or specify and I will make sure it's 2 or 3. So yeah e mail the above address if you want, and it's more of a pay what you want service, so if you wanna pay 10 bucks and get a random phone call that's fine, if you would like to give more then that's fine as well and it would be greatly appreciated and help alot, so thanks in advance, let's get weird now!
