For Weezer fans, this has been a week of rampant speculation after guitarist Brian Bell commented that the band may embark on a Pinkerton tour, playing the 1996 classic start-to-finish. Thankfully, bespectacled frontman Rivers Cuomo has cleared everything up—and given the Weezer faithful better news than they could have imagined.
"We have this really exciting idea to do a tour where we spend two nights in each city, and the first night, we play the entire Blue album, and the second night, we play the entirety of Pinkerton," Cuomo told MTV News. "We're just running it by promoters right now to see if there's sufficient interest in the markets to do something like that, and if they're on board, it's gonna happen."
"Yeah, it would probably be a Blue/Pinkerton tour," drummer Pat Wilson concurred. "It's an idea, we're still examining the mathematics of everything, looking at the logistics and schedules ... you know."
Judging by the near-universally positive response Bell's comments stirred up earlier this week, we suspect there will be more than sufficient interest from promoters.
Weezer's new album, Hurley, comes out Sept. 14 on Epitaph.
