Remaining members of Nirvana "disappointed" with Guitar Hero use of Kurt Cobain

"We want people to know that we are dismayed and very disappointed in the way a facsimile of Kurt is used in the Guitar Hero game. The name and likeness of Kurt Cobain are the sole property of his estate - we have no control whatsoever in that area.
While we were aware of Kurt's image being used with two Nirvana songs, we didn't know players have the ability to unlock the character. This feature allows the character to be used with any kind of song the player wants. We urge Activision to do the right thing in "re-locking" Kurt's character so that this won't continue in the future.
It's hard to watch an image of Kurt pantomiming other artists' music alongside cartoon characters. Kurt Cobain wrote songs that hold a lot of meaning to people all over the world. We feel he deserves better."
Activision--the company behind the Guitar Hero franchise--responded to questions about the usage of Cobain's likeness with the following:
"Guitar Hero secured the necessary licensing rights from the Cobain estate in a written agreement signed by Courtney Love to use Kurt Cobain's likeness as a fully playable character in Guitar Hero 5."

I agree with Dave and Krist. But I am not surprised in the least. In my opinion, I'm not the least bit shocked that Courtney Love sold away Kurt's dignity and believe it is a damn shame that his name is in her hands for her to handle it in this manner.

I was reading something about this and how Courtney Love was responding to it: Though it was originally said that Courtney Love was actively involved with the creation of the Kurt Cobain graphics in Activision's Guitar Hero 5, Love is apparently unhappy with the game and is threatening legal action. On her Twitter page she said: "For the record this Guitar Hero shit is breach of contract on a Bullys part and there will be a proper addressing of this and retraction. We are going to sue the shit out of ACtivision we being the Trust the Estate the LLC the various LLCs Cobain Enterprises." I found the above text on punknews.org
I have a feeling she thought when you play as Kurt he still acts Kurt like even when you perform Thrice or Kings Of Leon etc. However when you play as him on guitar with other characters he plays right handed, and does the moves of Flava Flav.....I think Love was under the impression he would "sing" the words of another person but still act how he does, like what it was like playing as Tom Morello in GH3.
Once a junkie whore, ALWAYS a junkie whore. I wouldn't be surprised if she auctioned off his remains to make a quick buck.
Agree that it is definitely hard to watch. But then again, aren't some people taking this a little too seriously? Other rock icons are used in the same way in this game. It is a game.
