Pete Wentz speaks up about Millionaires and Decaydance

Alternative Press - Scott Heisel on 7/20/09 @ 4:27 PM - altpress.com

After weeks of cries of anguish from fans responding to the apparent signing of crunk-something trio Millionaires to Decaydance, record mogul Pete Wentz has cleared the air a little. Below is part of what he said on his blog.

"I wanted to clear up the rumors and theories and set the record straight about the Millionaires and Decaydance.

The Millionaires are friends with Gabe. I am friends with Gabe. Gabe brought them to Crush. Gabe and I are both managed by Crush.

They are doing warped tour and Crush wanted their digital ep pressed. Decaydance is downstairs from Crush. We pressed 2,000 copies (future ebay collectors items if you get one with the Decaydance logo). They are NOT signed to Decaydance."

Peter, your indifference on this matter is surprising. Thanks for the update, AP.

Sooo... Why does their myspace state that their label is Decaydance????

Cause they WISH they were signed to Decaydance.

Adam jests, but the reason is that Decaydance DID press an EP for them, so until the pressing of that EP is sold out (which would call for a new pressing, if God hates us), they can claim they are on Decaydance. Essentially, the pressing of that EP set up some kind of legal agreement (as it does with all record contracts) that means that until all 2,000 are sold, Decaydance's roster includes these silly hos. If the pressing sells out, Decaydance could renew that contract by pressing more. Long story short - Decaydance has Millionaires on their label legally until there are no more EPs to be sold. Unless I know nothing about how record contracts work.
