'Supernatural' star Jensen Ackles spotted on Arrowverse crossover set

Fans of Supernatural and Arrow have been wanting a crossover episode for a while now, and it looks like we could be making strides towards that episode.

Why? Well, it appears that Jensen Ackles has been on the set of the show’s upcoming Elseworlds‘ crossover.

But, before we get you too excited: No, Jensen Ackles won’t be making an appearance into the Arrowverse anytime soon, but he is hanging out with the stars of it.

For those following Arrow may know, the show is gearing up to do their Elseworlds crossover.

The plot has been kept under lock and key for the most part, but we do know (thanks to Comicbook.com) that the Flash (Grant Gustin), Green Arrow (Stephen Amell) and Supergirl will be making an appearance during the action-packed event.

We’ve still got some time before the crossover officially begins, and one fan caused quite the stir when he posted a picture with Jensen Ackles.

The hype around Jensen possibly joining the crew for the Arrowverse crossover officially started yesterday (Oct. 18), when an Instagram user by the name of “scoobykoo” shared a selfie of him with the Supernatural star.

“I kid you not, Supernatural’s Jensen Ackles was just hanging out at The Flash Elseworlds set chatting with Grant and Stephen.”

The photo was cause for excitement, because, well, Jensen Ackles was hanging out with other CW stars (!)
But, as with most things on the internet, fans immediately began speculating that Ackles would be involved in the forthcoming crossover. Unfortunately, that’s not actually the case.
Taking to Twitter to quiet some of these crossover-related rumors, Arrow star (and SPN X Arrow crossover hopeful) Stephen Amell shared that Jensen wasn’t on the set to play any characters, just to support his fellow network mates.
“Let me squash this rumor right now,” Amell wrote in the tweet. “[Ackles] was on set tonight because he’s Grant Gustin’s #2 fan (I’m #1) and not because he’s playing The Batman.”

While we’re pretty sad we can’t have the crossover of our dreams, we at least know that Ackles and Amell are friendly enough to hang out outside of set – and who know, maybe one day they’ll actually do that crossover.

Arrownatural? Here’s what’s been said:

It’s no secret that Amell has wanted to see a Supernatural crossover with Arrow for quite some time, and at a recent panel at Heroes And Villians Fan Fest London, Amell shared his thoughts on the possibility of “Arrownatural” actually happening.

During his panel, the moderator of the panel shared her thoughts on the matter, saying that the shows are too different for a crossover to successfully happen, but Amell disagreed with her point, saying:

“No.” Amell shares. “I mean, the reason that we do crossovers on Arrow is because Greg Berlanti when he was growing up, loved to see characters from one show, show up on another show. So I would love the opportunity to work with Jared and Jensen.”

As Comicbook.com points out, Amell has mentioned possibly being involved in the show before. At last year’s Salt Lake Comic Con, the actor talked about being involved on the show, even if it was just a cameo, saying:

“Without breaking the fourth wall with too much gusto, if I could show up on Supernatural as, like, someone pumping gas in their car or something like that, or just someone that they murder, that would be tremendous,” Amell said. “And maybe it’s one of those things where, I know that it doesn’t make sense and I know that its one of those things where it’s not the same universe, but at the same time its TV and its supposed to be fun so maybe, you know, one of these days [Arrow executive producer] Greg Berlanti will be sitting in a room with the head honcho of Supernatural and they’ll just go, ‘Eh, why not?’”

While we’re not sure Arrownatural will ever happen, we can at least watch both CW hits. Be sure to catch Arrow on Mondays at 9/8c, and Supernatural on Thursdays at 8/7c.
