Thunderlip - The ProphecyPosted by Laila Hanson on 22-May-08 @ 05:18 PM
[3.5/5]Thunderlip's biographical information speaks rather hyperbolically about the band's resonance with the public, their set-the-world-ablaze future potential and most surprising, their originality. Sure, bios are supposed to trumpet, but let's be realistic: Any band who cite Thin Lizzy, UFO, Deep Purple, Iron Maiden and Judas Priest as influences and sound like Thin Lizzy, UFO, Deep Purple, Iron Maiden and Judas Priest are just rehashing-something this North Carolina outfit do very well. Singer Charge Kruiser certainly challenges Valient Thorr in the live-wire sweepstakes, and the harmony guitars and burnin' rubber leads of James Yopp and John Manning are the perfect accompaniment to driving around in a 1968 gas-guzzler with empty beer bottles, half-eaten steaks and groupie's thongs flying out the window. Some of it may reek of an ironic piss-take (the god awful "The Impaler"), but Thunderlip should fit in nicely on tour with Maylene And The Sons Of Disaster, ASG or whenever Ram Jam reunite.
