Crash Romeo - Gave Me The Clap
Crash Romeo are all about giving you diseases and putting you into negative mental states, and they're talented enough to let it extend beyond the sexually transmitted type promised in their album's title. The melodies are sweet enough to ensure diabetes. The vocals are multi-tracked enough to produce migraines. The whiny pitches singer Travis Weber sometimes hit ("Victim Liar," "One Night Only") will likely induce hearing loss. The phoned-in excitement exuded through the whole thing? Well, there's the source of your psychosis. If the album is ever worthwhile, it's due to the punctual gang vocals, occasionally urgent guitars and backing vocals from guitarist Steve Anderson and bassist Steve Mathews--all traits that seem directly descended from New Found Glory. At best, Gave Me The Clap is an overproduced power-pop powder puff you should aim to cut out of your lifestyle completely. (TRUSTKILL) Brian Shultz
