Combustible as a cherry bomb.

Punk's always made room for Runaways, and these O.C. females keep that hard-hearted-bad-girl attitude alive. Civet frontwoman Liza Graves' gruff, scabrous roar plows through the racing surf-punk riffage and bucking rhythms like a bulldozer, backed by her bandmates' boisterous vocals. While the old-school punk DNA is present, producer Julian Raymond (the Suicide Machines) ramps up the rock, increasing guitar crunch and bottom-end wallop until it snaps like a mousetrap with neck-cracking efficiency. The disc's surplus energy alleviates some of the 13 tracks' sameness, but the lack of a good change-up means it begins to recall a one-dimensional reliever pumping in fastball after fastball. However, that doesn't diminish the triumph of the album's first half, which features bitter glam-punk ("Son Of A Bitch"), sizzling street-punk strut ("Pay Up") and the infectious, shout-along pop-punk highlight "All I Want," which hails girl power over the boys who come and go "just like streetcars."
