Crusty pirate-core from the Great White North.

The Sainte Catherines - Dancing For Decadence

[3/5] Just when you thought shopping malls and concept-album posturing might've defanged punk rock forever, the Sainte Catherines come storming out of Quebec to reclaim the increasingly watered-down genre for the shirtless, double-fisted drinker set. Oozing crusty ethos, this metal-edged drunk-punk sextet sound like a horde of tattooed pirates who've come to rifle, pillage and plunder the political-themed melodic hardcore bands like Good Riddance have made equally famous (and a legion of copycats have beaten into the ground). The Catherines make ample use of the patented octave-riff guitar sound NOFX are so fond of on The Decline, and while such traits find Dancing For Decadence leaning into repetitious territory about 10 songs in, this is an overall fresh entry of zero-gauge Guinness-punk in a progressively predictable genre.
