[3/5] Although Copeland wowed the crowds with their introspective debut, they fell victim to the sophomore slump on their last record, Which makes
Eat, Sleep, Repeat, the completion of their musical trifecta, somewhat of an unanticipated release. The gratingly repetitive opener, "Where's My Head," can't seem to find its bearings, but later on, the band eventually settle into a groove with fragile songs that exhibit grace and precision.
Eat, Sleep, Repeat is less "emo" than their previous discs, embracing more indie-rock aesthetics ("I'm Safer On An Airplane") despite singer Aaron Marsh's dancing falsetto carrying the tracks to grieving emotional depths. It's always a toss-up whether it's better to showcase actual musical talent or to grab people with flashy pop hooks. Copeland has clearly picked the former, and only time will reveal the result of that decision.
