A bittersweet return to form for the head Lemonhead.

[3/5] Artists who travel the career path of Evan Dando-MTV alt-rock pinup to erratic, drug-fueled irrelevance-seldom get themselves rerouted. Yet after years of low-key penance, here's Dando again, with a new lineup of Lemonheads (including Black Flag/Descendants drummer Bill Stevenson, who also co-produces) and a punk-pop clarity that's startling after all his well-documented fuckups.
The Lemonheads is the album Dando should have made 10 years ago, and poppy punk ain't what it used to be. But despite the career he threw away, Dando's like a puppy you just can't get mad at. There's still something endearing about his confessions of lacking backbone in the bedroom, and other inadequacies, especially when they're this catchy. Play it loud, and give the guy a break he doesn't deserve; at least he admits it.
