Four Letter Lie - Let Your Body Take OverPosted by Tim Karan on 01-Mar-07 @ 01:36 PM
[1/5] Some bands draw influence from other bands. You know the type-the sound is essentially a bashful tribute, but it works well. But others employ the straight carbon-copy technique, sounding exactly like a certain act to the point where they are completely drained of any soul or emotion. Four Letter Lie effortlessly land in the latter category. Everything here is disgustingly shameless Underoath aping, namely They're Only Chasing Safety era, right down to the little yelp at the end of certain lines Spencer Chamberlain-er, Brian Nagan screams. The one time they deviate from that sound is on "Feel Like Fame"-and that's because it sounds like Atreyu's Alex Varkatzas guesting on a Fall Out Boy single, with Nagan sounding most like Patrick Stump at the hook (truly confounding). Worst of all, the band barely sound like they give a shit on the recording. Sorry, guys, you do have to actually write songs before you hit it big. (VICTORY) Brian Shultz
