Blinded Black - Under The Sunrise
[4/5] Blinded Black humbly credit advertising and bugging people on MySpace for building their fanbase, but whatever happened to the music simply doing the work?
Under The Sunrise, Blinded Black's full-length debut, can definitely stand on its own two feet. The musicianship is inspiring as synth-driven rock marries metal-tinged emo. Sounds familiar, sure, but Blinded Black bring a fresh approach to an otherwise stagnant genre. Some credit may be due to producer Mark McClusky (Hit The Lights, Norma Jean), but the harmonic screams are throaty and powerful, while intricate guitars spider their way into the listener's ears. Topically, Blinded Black draw from rough relationships ("Set In Stone") to conceptual ideas ("Behind The Scenes"). With solid lyricism and hook-filled melodies, it's quite possible that one day, this former AP&R pick will be rocking arenas near you.
