Naming the first song on your album "Less Than Four" can be problematic when facing a wealth of publications rating your album on a five-point scale, and it's sadly telling. While Tokyo Rose are good in theory, they've always had a bit of trouble overcoming their obvious influences. The Promise In Compromise only has minimal distinction from the band's 2005 effort, New American Saint, and sounds so remarkably similar to early works from more established bands like Taking Back Sunday and Fall Out Boy that it's is just another drab half-hour of forgettable emo-punk only true enthusiasts of the genre would love. The songs are put-together well with no snoozer ballads, and some of the harder-edged tracks such as "Right As Rain" and "611 Life Lesson" are even worth spinning a few extra times, but the album unfortunately just plays like a drop in the bucket of a regrettably saturated genre.
