I actually quite liked the EP. Yes, it was more mainstream, but it was deeper. I wasn't the least bit disappointed--in fact, I had expected a less mature sound for this one; I hadn't expected such a mature sound at all. Overall, I did rather like it, but I hope they haven't completely matured and will definitely try to mix this sort of sound with the Hold on Tight sound, if possible, for their next album.

As an avid music listener, I am offended by the complete lack of respect for the listener by this band. Not only is this EP (It was an EP either way. 8 songs is NOT a full length) a smorgasbord of garbage, they expect people to like it.
I have one thing to say to Hey Monday. Please spare us next time.
Yea I agree they got more pop-inclined, I don't blame them though. Apparently it's their record company that turned their album into an EP, which I assume they got in the way of their creative realms as well. But this is fine, all bands go through this similar 'pop-breakdown', and look how All Time Low turned out. Their lyrics got deeper, the way their soundtrack is arranged just exemplifies their emotion to another level. Hey Monday should stay young, slowly mature, because I like it that way. If you're looking for more edgy and less pop-inclined music just stick to Paramore. No I do not agree that they did not outplay their previous 'Hold On Tight'. Change is good, as long as you do not epic fail like Motion City Soundtrack's 'My Dinosaur Life', which they took a huge leap back with vocals and lyrics. Hey Monday is a young band, I love their catchy stuff, and I do look forward more than ever for a new, full album from them. Oh by the ways, 'Wondergirl' is something different from them, love it to death :D
Although Beneath It All is where I was expecting Hey Monday to go with their music, I wasn't quite ready for THIS. Cassadee stated that the album was going to be more main-stream and I respect that she admitted it before any one could accuse Hey Monday of becoming "sell-outs". But, I was hoping for something more lyrically based, even if it didn't have their usual Pop-Punk taste. The EP was catchy in some parts, but it didn't keep me wanting more like Hold on Tight did. The fact that the album sounds a little more "Kelley Clarkson" isn't my main frustration, but when some of the bridges are about as meaningful to me as "Cause we belong together yeah" is extremelly frustrating. If you're going to make a change, do it well.
I dont understand why this pop act is pretending to be a band! i just dont think this will catch on

I loved all the songs. On second listen, the songs become more unique - and they are all good to begin with. I just wish it was an LP.

Hey Monday!"s new EP could have been a lot better. Only have of the EP is worth listening to and the remaining songs feel like they're trying too hard. I wish they'd go back to being themselves and stop trying to keep up with the music on the radio and to stop trying to mirror Paramore.

All of the songs are really catchy, but I feel like Hey Monday is missing some of the rock that they had in Hold On Tight. It sounds more like Hilary Duff, Kelly Clarkson (any of those pop singers). It's still really good and I will listen to it and learn the songs, but I hope they will return to their rock/pop roots on the full length in 2011.
Hey monday.. Usually shoved into the pop side, remains in the same scene. Nothing really stood out for me. Then again,I was expecting a lot from one of my favorite bands. But Cassadee's voice shocked me. You can defiently hear a difference from 'Hold On Tight' to 'Beneath It All'. Her voice has matured and so has the writing. It's evident in "Wondergirl", which I'm sure is going to be a hit.
So, in closing, the EP was okay, not great. Just okay. Hopefully their new CD in 2011, will make up for their EP.

I loved all the songs the band released off of this EP. Wut really gets me about Hey Monday, is how their lyrics aren't about serious topics like death or politics. I love how I can go crazy listening to their music and not feel burdened by whatever's happening in the world.
Hey Monday's latest songs remind me of what it means to be a teenager.
This EP is more pop inclined but I'm happy to see they are experimenting with their music a little. I love Casadee's voice and I hope this band is around for a long time.
Regardless of what everyone says, change is good.
Hey Monday is still not as recognized as they should be and if going more pop will get them more recognized, then so be it.
They can do what they want, it's THEIR band and THEIR music but I will always be a fan.
