Reactionary flow

Hip-hop has always been a reflection of the world around it, a musical expression of American society. Mr. Lif's I Heard It Today goes one step further. Written and recorded throughout the fall of 2008 and released individually as singles, the album covers the financial collapse in real time. Lif's flow, like always, is spot on, but his production team has stepped up their game, offering uptempo beats cut with old soul and psychedelic rock samples that pick up his pacing and play to his emotions, generating some true anger out of one of hip-hop's most laidback MCs. The end result is an album that doesn't pull its punches, a direct message to the people with enough rhythm to get some movement out of stiff limbs while we dance away the recession blues.
