My 2008 Soundtrack

The opinions expressed in this blog entry are those entirely of the author (Rachel) and do not necessarily reflect those of Alternative Press Magazine, Inc.

Now that we've got that out of the way, these are the albums that got significant face time in my iTunes this year. Because I tend to have really bad music-listening habits, I can't promise that any of these discs got more spins than Mermaid Avenue throughout this year. But as new music goes, these were the jams in my world.

(Disclaimer: I'm doing this without my iTunes in front of me and am terribly afraid I'm leaving out a couple of obvious ones. Lemme know what you think I'm missing!)

Without further ado, here they are, in chronological order:

JUNO SOUNDTRACK

MGMT/ORACULAR SPECTACULAR

VAMPIRE WEEKEND/VAMPIRE WEEKEND

NADA SURF/LUCKY

THE MATCHES/A BAND IN HOPE

SHE & HIM/VOL. 1

MATES OF STATE/RE-ARRANGE US

FLEET FOXES/FLEET FOXES

MY MORNING JACKET/EVIL URGES

I just listened to that Ryan Adams album for the first time yesterday. Sooooooooooo good. The rest of the list ain't bad either. I noticed some stuff on there that used to be on my Zune but isn't anymore for some reason. Gonna have to fire up the ol' computer for some downloadin' I guess.

I just recently bought Narrow Stairs and the Stand Ins, and haven't listened to them yet, totally forgot about them. Your blog reminded me to.

Dig the list, with one addition: Raconteurs! Great album this year.

At least I didn't see Chinese Democracy on your list, like every other one I've been seeing. Not that I was that worried about it ;)
